Statistics Poland at the 57th Session of the UN Statistical Commission

Data quality and comparability, the use of new technologies, integration of multiple data sources, and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals — these were the central themes of the 57th Plenary Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (3–6 March 2026, New York).

The delegation of Statistics Poland (GUS) brought Polish expertise and perspectives to these discussions, actively contributing to debates on social and demographic statistics, health, agriculture, data governance, SDG indicators, statistical capacity development, and statistics on refugees, internally displaced persons, and stateless persons.

The UN Statistical Commission is the world's foremost strategic forum for official statistics — the place where high-level debates translate into international standards and methodological frameworks that, in time, become binding regulatory solutions. A prime example is the legislation on the use of mobile network operators' (MNO) data in official statistics, which traces its origins to the Commission's work. Poland holds a seat on the UN Statistical Commission for the term 2025–2028, positioning Statistics Poland as an active voice in shaping the norms and standards that define the future of official statistics worldwide.
