Statistics Poland on data supporting development – ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development
The ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development took place in New York from 20 to 24 April 2026, during which one of the key themes was the role of data and statistics in monitoring countries’ development progress. This topic took on particular significance following the UN conference in Seville, where, for the first time, the need to invest in data and statistics was recognised as an integral part of development, rather than merely a basis for measuring it.
This approach was also reflected at the forum in New York, which aimed to review the provisions of the Seville Commitment and included a panel on the role of data and statistics, with Poland’s participation.
High-quality data and statistics help to identify funding gaps, enhance the transparency of public actions and support more informed development decisions.
