Data Integration

Data Integration

Digital transformation is reshaping societies, economies and institutions — and with it, their information needs. Providing a full picture of contemporary phenomena requires a broader, more comprehensive approach to data production and the use of new methods and data sources. Traditional statistical sources are gradually giving way to greater use of administrative registers and the introduction of innovative sources.

Integrating data from diverse origins — including Big Data, privately held data from commercial entities, and citizen-generated data — has become a key direction in the development of official statistics. Combining these sources using coherent methodologies and international standards enables statistical offices to produce modern, more useful statistical outputs. Growing pressure to reduce survey costs, together with expectations of faster delivery and higher granularity, makes data integration even more important.

Statistics Poland is an active participant in international initiatives such as ESSnet Data Integration, co-developing new approaches, methods and tools for data integration within the European Statistical System.
